As a kid, summer was my favorite season… for the obvious reason that I had three months of freedom from school, combined with a ton of cool activities to keep me entertained. Now that I’ve gained a few years and my own car, I can spend summer the way that I want, though I find myself going back to a lot of those childhood traditions. Here are a few of my favorite things to do when the weather gets warm in Chicago:
- Watch the fireworks – I grew up in Batavia, and there was no other town that had a bigger Fourth of July shindig. No matter where I’m living, I always make it back to my hometown to see their sky concert.
- Ride a rollercoaster – It only took me a few minutes to realize that I loved rollercoasters. Every summer, my mom and I head to Six Flags and hit every ride possible.
- Hit a summer blockbuster – One of the best things to do on these unbearably hot days is to relax in the frigid air of your local movie theater. There are plenty of great flicks coming out this summer!
- Go to a pool party – There are few things in life more relaxing than spending time with good friends while floating in a pool.
