Though summer has waved goodbye, the fall premieres of television shows can keep our hearts warm. Here is a list of new shows I started watching this year, some of which you should put on your DVR right away, while others you should only watch if C-SPAN starts rerunning Congress meetings.
Up All Night: Starring the hilarious Will Arnett, Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph, Up All Night follows new parents in their quest to raise a child and maintain their youth. If you’re looking for a cute sitcom and a few laughs on Wednesday nights, Up All Night is one to add to your queue.
Last Man Standing: I had high hopes for this show, which stars Tim Allen as an outdoorsman trying to preserve his manliness in a house full of women. Unfortunately, you’d be better off watching reruns of Home Improvement.
2 Broke Girls: Predictably, this show is about two girls with no money trying to make it in New York. The characters are funny and the plot has more depth and promise than I thought it would. With the lack of quality Monday night programming, 2 Broke Girls is one to try out.
New Girl: Although it appears to be a standout among the new sitcom premiers, I was disappointed by this eccentric comedy starring Zooey Deschanel. New Girl is about a quirky teacher who moves in with three guys when she unexpectedly splits with her boyfriend. It’s predictable and full of recycled jokes.
