All Time Faves: Sci-Fi/Fantasy Books

With Halloween around the corner, it’s the perfect time to hit the library or bookstore and stock up on some must-read sci-fi/fantasy books. And who better to recommend those books than me, WhereYouShop’s new Senior Copywriter, longtime bookseller and admitted bibliophile. Here are my faves:

The Princess Bride by William Goldman

This book defies genre: it has romance, adventure, piracy, fantasy…a bit of everything. If you haven’t seen the movie you should, but read the book too.

The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley

One of the best retellings of Arthurian legend ever. This book turns Camelot on its ear, turning the traditional villain into the heroine.

The Passage by Justin Cronin

These are not Twilight vampires. The image of these bloodsuckers will keep you up all night, as will the page-turning story.

The Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris

I started this series on a bet (which I lost) and could not put it down. Equal parts sci-fi, horror, romance and downright silliness, it’s hard not to root for the plucky Southern Heroine.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

No list of mine would be complete without mention of my undying love for Harry Potter. Out of the seven novels, this one is my favorite. Of course, reading the previous books is implied.

Did your favorite not make the list? Let me know!
