Exercise Ball Challenge

Exercise Ball Challenge

A few weeks ago, I was complaining to fellow Copywriter Colin (as I usually do) about wanting to lose weight (as most of our conversations go) and in a moment of frustration I blurted out some possible solutions. Amongst those solutions were: working out during lunch, doing Pilates during meetings and sitting on an exercise ball all day instead of a chair. Colin thought the last one was so ridiculous that he dared me to forgo my chair for a big, inflatable exercise ball for one week. And so it begins.

Today is day one of the Exercise Ball Challenge, and it’s not as bad as it seems, minus a few concerns…

  1. At first I couldn’t reach the keyboard with the first ball I was using (yes, there have been multiple tries), but it just so happened that our Director of Operations, Gemma, had a high-tech exercise ball and chair combo that she kindly let me borrow, and that resolved that concern.
  2. I’m a lot lower than I was with my chair, so I have to look up to see my computer screens.
  3. I’m already having too much fun rolling around, and I’m only a couple hours in.

Check back in next week to see if I braved the challenge and acquired a six-pack. And if you have any tips to make this week easier (and more fun), I’m all ears.

Aside from it being more fun than a chair, there are benefits to sitting on an exercise ball, including improvement in your balance and burning up to 350 calories.
