July is here, and summer will be over before we know it. Before the leaves start to change and our white shoes go into hibernation, there’s a few summertime activities I’d like to enjoy. Perhaps you’ve also been meaning to seize the summer but need a little inspiration. Here’s some of my goals for the sunny season:
-Start biking. It’s a great form of exercise, so you can eat that ice cream cone without feeling too guilty. Biking is also an eco-friendly way to get around, and it’s a refreshing way to enjoy the great outdoors.
-Enjoy stargazing. Visit an observatory or catch up with a local astronomy club. At the very least, I’ll head out to a grassy field at night to watch for shooting stars and make up fake constellations.
-Go camping. I admit with some shame that I have never gone camping, but I’ve made a promise to do the whole tent, sleeping bag, campfire thing at least once this summer. Is it still technically bear season?
-Watch fireworks. With Independence Day around the corner, suburbs across the Chicagoland area are holding their own festivals and fireworks shows. What better way to spend the holiday weekend than to play carnival games, eat cotton candy and watch the fireworks at night?
What do you want to try before summer comes to a close?
